WOW! We’ve been busy as a club!

As of 30th September, we’ve logged 584 individual dives and 416 hours underwater — and our Branch Diving Officer predicts we’re on track for a record-breaking year

Qualifications

Huge congratulations to Jacque for earning her Open Water qualification!

Well done to David H for completing his Sports Diver certification

Celebrations

As a club, we have had an awful lot to celebrate recently.

Rosie and Kevin have each reached 100 dives — incredible dedication!

Jim Cookson has hit a jaw-dropping 1,000 dives!

And most joyfully, Kelly and David Horley tied the knot on 20th September — wishing them a lifetime of happiness (and diving adventures)!

Dive Trip Highlights

We have had some amazing trips recently!

Dale and Tony went underwater litter picking at Runswick Bay (North Yorkshire) for World Environment Day! It is important to us as a club to protect our environment and as this year the theme was beat plastic pollution it was brilliant that our divers took it upon themselves to do their bit to protect our oceans!

David M and Sam organized an amazing weekend trip to the Isle of Arran in June! They chartered a boat with Arran COAST and dived in some no-take conservation areas. Incredibly, they found a lobster around a metre long which is predicted to be around 7o years old. Our divers were spoilt for choice with barrel jellyfish, porpoise, seals, starfish and hermit crabs along with so many other things!

We have had a fantastic trip to Eyemouth too! Our divers were fortunate to go visit the RNLI station in order to deliver the check for money raised from the Ceillah last year. We were given a tour of the lifeboats which was enjoyed very much by our members. Once again, our members were treated to some amazing wildlife such as seals, otters and dogfish sharks!

Bob and Jim were kind enough to organize TWO trips to the Isle of Whithorn diving from their boats. Our divers enjoyed their trip to the Great Ooze to visit several wrecks to see the wonderful life that have made them home!

In a very typical CSAC fashion, we celebrated Kelly and David tying the knot with an underwater wedding at Wastwater. The effort put in by our members to make the day as special as possible for the couple was absolute wonderful! Thank you to everybody involved!

We have also been blessed enough to have had TWO week trips to Seal Bay. Our divers have loved diving from Bob’s RIB out of Seal Bay.

9 of our divers went to L’Estartit, Spain at the beginning of September and had a brilliant time! We were joined by Iain from Lothian Divers and Genine from Snorkel Wild. We saw some giant groupers, octopus, lots of wrasse and bream! A massive thank you to Ian K for organising such a fantastic trip with Unisub.

This is only a handful of the trips that we have had recently. To keep up to-date with our activities please have a look at our facebook or instagram page as they are updated more frequently.

Important Information

Unfortunately, the committee has had to make the difficult decision to increase membership prices as of January 2026. Club prices haven’t changed since 2010 and due to the ever increasing costs in running a club, we have had to increase them. The committee have broken down the costs and have agreed that the new prices still are good value for money. Additionally, the committee have also made the decision to introduce a junior membership. The new prices are as follows;

Trainees – £264 (first year only)

Adult Diver – £204 per year or £17 per month.

Junior Diver – £144 per year or £12 per month.

Snorkel/associate member – £60 per year or £5 per month

Dates for Diary

5th December – Christmas meal

12th January – AGM, Currock House

CSAC continues to thrive thanks to the passion and commitment of our members. Whether you’re diving, planning, or celebrating, — thank you for making this club extraordinary!
