What a fantastic time was had by all at our 60th Anniversary Ceilidh, thanks to Catherine and her band of “party planners” who organised everything from the balloons and cake, the raffle and buffet. Thanks to all those who generously donated prizes to the raffle, we raised an amazing £740 for the RNLI and Carlisle Hospice at Home. We can’t forget the Eden Valley Ceilidh Band who had us on our feet from the first to last dance, they were outstanding. Many, many thanks to Richard Stow, who has been with the club for all of those 60 years for coming along and presenting the prizes, the awards and for cutting the cake. Finally to all the members, their families & friends , who gave generously and danced their socks off, and made this a night to remember for years to come, you were amazing.

October
This month we welcome JAN to the club following his Try dive, we wish him success with his training.
Congratulations this month to DALE who qualified as a Dive Leader and also completed his Open Water Instructor Course.
Also, well done to SAM and ALAN who qualified as a Sports Divers.
The month got off to a great start with our trip to Kinlochbervie diving with Chris and Cathy on their boat Wildcat. The weather wasn’t very kind, windy, raining and some sleet so we were confined to the lochs but the diving was excellent. Viz of 10 – 15m on most dives with plenty of life to see including octopus, congers, ling, dogfish, red blenny, black nudibranch. We also saw seals, minke whale and sea eagles during the surface intervals. Each couple took a turn in providing the evening meal except for Thursday where we enjoyed a lovely meal at the Old School. A fantastic week, good food, great company and dives to remember, who could ask for more.
We have been very busy on the training front as well this month, with a number of members completing more SD assessments.

September
Friday, 27th saw a number of members visiting Capernwray for the BSAC Dive Fest. There was a treasure hunt, at which some members were successful. We held our 60th anniversary underwater Tea Party and a number of members completed some SD assessments. To round off the day Jim & Sue were presented with a certificate by BSAC to commemorate the club’s 60 years of diving.
The weekend of 21/22 saw the first outing of our new portable compressor to Loch Fyne for 2 days diving – Saturday at the Argyll CP and Sunday at St Catherine’s. Thanks to those who towed and filled cylinders, it was a successful weekend and we look forward to many repeat events.
Saturday saw Peter and Daniel complete their Ocean Diver assessments, while Sunday saw Tony completely overshadow his buddy during a rescue management assessment. Definitely an oscar performance!
We welcome DONNA to the club following a successful try dive, we wish her well with her training.
Unfortunately the Tynemouth trip on 7th was cancelled due to the weather but has now been rearranged for 2nd November.
