August
Congratulations to CRAIG, our newest Ocean Diver, we wish him safe and happy diving with us in the future.
Our training continues apace with trips to Capernwray x 2 and Crummock.
Our main trip this month was diving out of Largs Marina with Bob & Jims’ boats Blue Jacket and Valhalla. The conditions were a tad challenging but we had a great dive at Trail Island, plenty of life to be seen. Unfortunately, engine trouble put paid to Valhalla’s second dive; we managed to limp safely back to the marina. However those on “Blue Jacket” managed to find a more sheltered site for their second dive. Well done to Dale who completed a Dive Manager assessment for Dive Leader. All in all a good but tiring day.
Finally, Happy 50th Birthday to Rosie, by all accounts a great night was had by all; and the cake was scrumptious!

July
We give a big welcome to Daniel who has joined us this month.
Congratulations to LOIS who has completed her Ocean Diver qualification this month, we look forward to her joining us on many future trips.
Training has continued with trips to Capernwray, Crummock and Wastwater.
We have had three great trips this month:
Bob’s day trip to Whithorn was a great success, the highlight being the dive on the wreck “Great Ouse”, which by all accounts had loads of life and good viz. See Tony’s video below:
This was followed by Sam’s impromptu trip to St Abbs where we had two good dives on Anemone Gully and Black Carrs with St Abbs Charters aboard Stingray.

Finally at the end of the month there was Andy’s trip to the Isle of Man. The 4 days were blessed with great weather as well as some fantastic dive sites.
June
Lots of diving going on now the better weather is here. We had a cracking weekend diving out of Eyemouth with Billy on Wave Dancer and Derek on Saorsa na Mara. Weather was great and the viz up to 10m in places. We had sightings of wolf fish, dogfish, angler fish, scorpion fish and some were lucky to see the guillemots underwater diving for sand eels. Dolphins were also sighted from the boat. The beginning of the month saw Bob take his rhib to the Clyde where members dived the MV Akka, the largest wreck in the Clyde, which sank in April 1956; this was followed by a dive on the Gantocks.
The Beadnell diving has had to be postponed until later in the year.
Training also continues at Capernwray with Peter having his first open water dive; we look forward to Katie, Alex, Ari and Fred having their first dives soon.
Congratulations to George who has now qualified as a Sports Diver and to Mae our latest Ocean Diver.
We also welcome David, our latest member to the club, and wish him well with his training.
